The East Riding
Archaeological Society is an active society of about 250 members. It aims
to promote interest in archaeology, both in the local area and further
a field, through a programme of lectures, excursions, publications and
fieldwork.
Lecture Programme
The East Riding Archaeological Society holds monthly lectures from September
to April in the Wilberforce Building at Hull University on Cottingham
Road. Topics vary from items of local interest to those of national importance.
Field Studies Group
In addition to the lecture meetings there is also an informal Field Studies
Group that meets on the first Wednesday of every month throughout the
year. There
are opportunities for members to take part in archaeological digs and
recent excavations have taken place on a Romano-British site at Arram.
Publications
ERAS members are kept up to date with local and national
archaeology through newsletters published two or three times a year.
Included in the the annual subscription is the society's major publication,
The East Riding Archaeologist (Retail price usually in the region of
£20).
