Kevin is is National Adviser, Early Medieval Metalwork for the Portable Antiquities Scheme. He was formerly a senior curator at the North Lincolnshire Museum in Scunthorpe. In this lecture Kevin will show how the careful mapping of items of personal adornment such as buckles and brooches associated with the later Roman army and the placement of early Anglo-Saxon cemeteries may shed light on the relationship between the Romano-British surviving population and the incomers from across the North Sea. It was this period which spawned the legends of this iconic British King.
