FIELD STUDIES RETURNS

Field Studies is returning!!! Our last meeting was 4 March 2020 - so we have had to reacquaint ourselves with the pottery assemblage from kilns in Skiff Lane, Holme on Spalding Moor, a Romano British site the Society excavated in 1996. We still have plenty of pottery sherds to record and we need your help. We look forward to welcoming back our regulars (don't worry - we'll all be a bit rusty) and we also extend an invite to new and existing members who are interested in coming along and having a go. It's a very relaxed and sociable evening - and you will be made very welcome as well as given training in the recording methods.
We meet on the first Wednesday of every month at 7.30 pm - commencing 3 November 2021 - in an upstairs room at St Nicholas Parish Hall on Holmechurch Lane in Beverley. We recommend parking on a side street near the venue. We are normally finished by 9 pm.
No need to book just come along - or message if you have any queries.

VISIT TO ROMAN VILLA SITE AT EASTFIELD - TUESDAY 24 AUGUST - 1030 AM

We've been keeping up with the amazing pictures and articles relating to the high status Roman site discovered at Eastfield near Scarborough and we hope you have enjoyed the updates.
MAP Archaeological Practice (MAP) have kindly offered ERAS members access to visit the site before it is reburied. The guided visit will take place at 1030 am on Tuesday 24 August. The site will be operational - busy with construction staff and archaeologists continuing excavations. The site can be very muddy and slippery when wet and is also over a large expanse of land - so a lot of walking over undulating ground is to be expected. Please obviously wear appropriate footwear.
Anyone wishing to attend or with general questions about the visit should email Angela Fawcett at [email protected]. This is an incredible opportunity to be one of the few to view the structural remains before they are reburied.
